BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A café in Mission Hill lets customers take more than just coffee home.
Green Haus Café at 1520 Tremont Street is covered in plants, providing a unique atmosphere for those in need of a caffeine boost. While coffee and specialty drinks are what bring people in, co-owner Phineas Phan said the greenery keeps people coming back, especially during the winter months.
“I don’t know man. Everyone needs a plant in their life every now and then,” said Phan. “It kind of reminds us of home a bit.”
The Phan Family is from Vietnam, where they said drinking coffee is a “cherished tradition.” While many Bostonians share a similar sentiment, Phan said Green Haus Café’s Vietnamese coffee provides “cultural richness” to the local scene.
“People have a very strong coffee culture [here], but the coffee quality is not where it should be,” said Phan.
Coffee might be their specialty, but it’s not the only thing available for purchase. In fact, Phan said many customers leave with one of the plants, as they can buy “pretty much anything."
