BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Few technological breakthroughs have the high expectations that Artificial Intelligence has.
And while AI may still take its place among the greatest of human achievements, along with electricity, the internet, and vaccines, it may be too early to understand its true worth.
A new MIT survey shows that most companies that use AI, at least so far, have not been able to use it in a way that significantly grows their revenue.
The study suggests some companies are struggling to incorporate it into existing workflows, and that only about 5 percent of generative AI pilot programs led to any revenue growth.
Boston resident Vanness, who works for a pharmaceutical firm that's incorporating AI, said the findings are not surprising. "Even in my company, there are a lot of people who are still very much not fully embracing it, accepting it," Vanness said. "I think people need to still learn how to use it because it's not going anywhere."
Another local AI user agreed, saying we "have to be able to navigate it to make it work as efficiently as we can. That study does not shock me at all."
