BURLINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Grocery shoppers in the Burlington area looking for an organic alternative have found one.

MOM's Organic Market, the Maryland-based grocery chain, opened its first Massachusetts location in Burlington back in February. The Cambridge Street store offers what it calls the "highest quality organic produce," banning products that contain 250 unhealthy substances, such as artificial sweeteners, bleached flour, and cottonseed oil.

"You know usually you go to organic places, you have to check what’s in the food and things like that," Burlington store assistant manager Daniel Lewis told WBZ NewsRadio Wednesday. "We kind of take care of that for people. Many different variety of organic products and great prices."

"I don’t have to take the time that I do in other stores where I’m reading over and over and over and I find this one thing that I don’t like. That makes it a lot easier," said Linda, a devoted customer.

MOM's Organic Market gets its produce, meats, and dairy from small, family-run farms. The store is also committed to protecting and restoring the environment, with in-store recycling centers where people can drop off small items such as cell phones, tablets, batteries, eyeglasses, and shoes.

"We just want to basically give people good food as a place where you could trust," Lewis said.
