CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A winter storm is bearing down on Massachusetts, and could bring up to 8 inches of snow for the Tuesday morning commute in some parts. Western and Central Mass. will get the brunt of the snow, with 6-8 inches predicted from Worcester to the Berkshires.

Metro Boston and most of Greater Boston are expected to receive about 2-4 inches of snow, with isolated pockets of half a foot. Precipitation is set to roll in between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. for Central and Western Mass, and between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. for the eastern part of the state.

The Chelsea salt piles at Eastern Salt were humming on Monday morning, with heavy equipment loading the salt onto trucks.

One of the salt truck drivers, John, said every load has a different destination, so he doesn't necessarily know where it's going in advance. In terms of advice for driving in the snow, John said to follow the conventional advice and not crowd the plow.

"Stay out of our way," he said.
