FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A legion of monster trucks will be roaring at the home of the New England Patriots this weekend.
The next event in Monster Jam's Stadium Championship Series will take place at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. The field will look different than it does during the NFL season thanks to 250 dump trucks packed with 8 million pounds of recycled dirt. The turf will be protected by six thousand sheets of plywood.
"It’s stored locally, it is Foxborough dirt," Monster Jam tour manager Jennifer Schneider told WBZ NewsRadio Wednesday. "It’s the dirt that we used last year and the year before and the year before. It’s very seasoned, it knows what to do."
Saturday night's show will have monster truck races and stunts, including sky wheelies and nose walks.
"There’s everybody’s favorite, Freestyle," Schneider said. "They have 90 seconds to come out and wow the crowd. Have you ever thought of a monster truck doing a backflip? They do it and it’s amazing."
Megalodon, El Toro Loco, Velociraptor, and the legendary Grave Digger will be some of the trucks ripping up the dirt.
