DANVERS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It’s not just photographers and videographers capturing wedding memories.
Spurred by social media, more and more happy couples are choosing to bring in a live wedding painter.
Artists such as Danvers-based Devin Tormey travel to a ceremony and paint for hours, creating a portrait of the happy couple and talking with guests.
She recently was the live wedding artist for a ceremony in Dartmouth and explained how she worked. "I'm putting in a little of that lake view in the window behind the couple really working on the details of their venue," she said.
She spends 6-7 hours at a ceremony chatting with the guests as she paints. "I love to hear all the love and joy that goes into a wedding."
After the wedding, she spends dozens of hours on the details at her home studio before sending the creations off.
Devin says she’s honored to be a part of so many special moments. “They dream about [this day], and that’s where I come in. I’m right there dreaming about it with you.”
With the surge in interest, Devin says her schedule is booked solid for the rest of the year, and there are just a handful of slots left for 2025.
