BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck on Route 24 Friday afternoon.
Troopers were called to the scene of the crash, which happened around 3:30 p.m. on the southbound side of Route 24, at the Exit 13A off-ramp in Raynham.
A preliminary investigation by MSP indicated the motorcycle was merging from Route 44 onto Route 24, when it struck the rear passenger-side tire of a 2016 International Truck, which was heading southbound on Route 24.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old man from Wilton, Conn., suffered serious injuries in the crash. Life-saving efforts were performed, however, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash, according to a statement from MSP.
The operator of the truck, a 32-year-old man from Baltimore, Md. was not injured.
MSP did not release the name of the victim, and said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
