BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Southie residents said their streets have morphed into Allston Christmas.
Mike, a 20-year resident of Southie, said furniture items from toilet seats to mattresses took over the streets during the Sept. 1 move-in.
“It’s definitely worse,” he added. “I can see how people can relate [it] to being like Allston.”
His wife agrees. “It’s crazy,” she said. “I mean there’s anything and everything that you could want is out there on this street right now. We almost didn’t recognize our front place. It’s just covered right now.”
David, another Southie resident, said that last year’s moving day painted a similar, chaotic picture, but there’s a silver lining.
“It’s nice, I’ll say, we get to walk around and see what’s available for our apartment,” he added.
Sanitation crews were on site to pick up abandoned items and trash. One worker told WBZ NewsRadio he’s seen worse, they still can’t collect everything left on the streets.
