BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The cookie company Chip City morphed a crossover we didn’t know we needed for National Pretzel Day— the Cretzel

“The actual base is a croissant that we’ve made into a pretzel,” George Vasilopoulos with Chip City told WBZ NewsRadio. “Then we have stuffed it with our chocolate chip cookie.”

The sweet treat is only available for two days starting Saturday, and Vasilopoulos anticipates that it will be a hit over the weekend.

“Hopefully they last so everybody can get one, but usually on the first day, we’re typically sold out,” he added.

Vasilopoulos has been with the company for some time. “I love being in the factory and testing cookies all the time," he said. "I’ve put on maybe 20 pounds.”

The East Coast dessert company is no stranger to innovative flavors, such as a Kataifi Baklava and a Strawberry Shortcake Croissant Cookie.

There are four Chip City stores in Massachusetts, including Watertown, Harvard Square, Newbury Street, and the West End.
