BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — No tinsel or stocking in sight, but it's still Allston Christmas in Boston.
Allston Christmas is an unofficial holiday in Boston, when changing leases leads to tons of furniture lining the streets. While many look to score some free furniture, residents like Eve and Amanda are packing up their lives and preparing to create memories in their new homes.
"We just graduated, so I think we're kind of excited to get out of a place that's kind of mostly students and move into like the next chapter of life and feel a little bit more adult," Eve stated.
"I'm excited to be on the C line, who's a little bit faster than the B line over here," Amanda remarked.
While some locals will miss their former abodes, Eve says there are some things she won't miss.
"Not gonna miss the rats. There might still be rats in Brookline, but there's a lot of rats in our parking lot. We're hoping that, you know, Brookline can be relatively rat-free."
Emma echoed the sentiment.
"What I won't miss, I would say, is some of the critters that you find running around the streets here, specifically referring to the rats."

As Emma says farewell to the rodents, she looks forward to embracing her new home in Cambridge.
"It's a little bit more residential, I would say, than where we are now, but looking forward to kind of finding out the vibe of the place."
With the cost of rent increasing regularly in Boston, a majority of renters are struggling to afford their rent, according to Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies. Several locals like Zoe are excited about finding more space for less money.
"I get to move in with one of my best friends. I get to pay less for rent. It's going to be great. I'm really excited," Zoe exclaimed. "I could really use it. I think everybody could at this time."
Another Zoe, who is moving to the other side of Allston, is also excited about saving money on rent.
"I'm looking forward to having a bigger room for much cheaper and a balcony too," said Zoe.
