BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MSCPA-Angell is seeking donations for a dog in need of major surgeries.
Jack, a 2-year-old French bulldog, came to MSPA-Angell in November after issues with a previous housing situation. Jack has already undergone surgery for hip dysplasia in one of his back legs, but one of Jack’s front legs is worse.
His leg is turned 180 degrees, making it difficult for him to get around. Veterinarians at the Boston clinic said they aren’t able to fix Jack’s leg, so it needs to be amputated.
Mike Keiley, MSPCA-Angell vice president of animal protection, said he estimates that the surgeries will cost around $10,000.

“The popularity of bulldogs has led to overbreeding that often results in really complex and expensive congenital issues like Jack’s, and affording that kind of care puts an additional strain on owners and shelters,” Keiley said.
Jack is currently in foster care getting ready for his amputation surgeries, sometime in the coming weeks. Keiley said Jack will be ready for adoption sometime in early to mid-January.
