Meantime, the MSPCA said that they have roughly 40 black cats currently in their care ahead of a special cat adoption event which will occur next week from Oct. 1-4.

The event, called “Purranormal Cativity”, comes in conjunction with the MSPCA’s need to help and re-home animals impacted by the powerful hurricane.

“We know that a lot of shelters in areas we regularly work with, like Florida and South Carolina, will be impacted, and we want to be [able] to help,” said Mike Keiley, MSPCA-Angell Vice President of Animal Protection. “In order to do that, we need to find homes now for some of the cats that tend to stay in our shelters longer.”

The MSPCA added that adoption fees for older cats and cats with specific medical or behavioral needs will also be waived.

More information on the adoption program can be found on the MSPCA-Angell website.
