BROCKTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Multiple school districts in Massachusetts will remain closed through the end of the week as blizzard cleanup continues across the state.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) reported there were still more than 56,000 power outages in the state, with the worst impacts on Cape Cod. Meantime, areas that received nearly 3 feet of snow, like the South Coast, are still working to clear roads.
Among the school districts closed Friday: Brockton, Fall River, Falmouth, Masphee, Plymouth, and Taunton.
"It's a little unfortunate because they're going to be missing out on any projects that they might have, and then they've got to catch up, and they might not be too happy about that," one resident in Brockton said.

Other residents said the lack of clean-up in the city all but forced local leaders to postpone classes.
"Well, they didn't shovel the sidewalks, plow the sidewalks, and they had to walk in the middle of the street. You want your child walking in the middle of the street going to school," another person from Brockton said.
Many parents said they value the importance of learning and recognized that it will be two straight weeks without school after last week's February vacation.
"Kids are better safe at home than walking out in the street to catch a school bus," one parent explained.
