BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn said he is looking to tighten up security around City Hall after employees reported multiple thefts on Monday.

According to a police report, numerous workers said that large sums of cash, as well as debit and credit cards, were stolen from them. Some of these stolen cards even had unauthorized charges at Macy’s and Walgreens, totaling hundreds of dollars.

Flynn spoke about the larcenies and how he feels it’s much different from a simple pickpocket.

“I think it’s a serious breach, someone was able to walk around from office to office,” said Flynn. “I’m also concerned about any privacy data that was taken, such as social security numbers or any confidential records.”

Victims of the robberies reported seeing an unfamiliar man wearing a dark jacket and sweatpants, a brown beanie, and a blue facemask.

As for security changes around City Hall, Flynn said he’s determined to improve it.

“There’s already security changes taking place now, and I'm looking forward to learning about them,” said Flynn. “I love this building, I can come to work every day, but I do know that we have to tighten up security around City Hall.”
