GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Friday afternoons Gloucester City Hall is closed to business, except for the mayor's office, which becomes a music studio and the site of a new reoccurring YouTube web series hosted by the Mayor of Gloucester Gregory Verga.

Annette Dion was one of the musicians featured on "Music with the Mayor."

"I love it— Greg is the musical mayor. This is a unique and exciting adventure that you're taking, and it's great to showcase local musicians we don't get the opportunity too much to showcase. It's a great service," Dion said.

The show uses what Verga calls the "people's studio," to highlight musicians from Gloucester and beyond. Verga, who plays guitar himself, says that both Democratic and Republican residents should be able to set aside differences to jam out.

According to its YouTube channel, 1623 Studios is a non-profit organization intended to produce community programming for Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Essex, and the general Cape Ann area.
