Mysterious Cambridge Flyers Promote Noise Reduction Ideas

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Flyers have been popping up in Cambridge with recommendations on how the area can reduce noise pollution.

While the source of the flyers remains a mystery, their message is appreciated by the residents we spoke to.

Cutting back on leaf blower use and honking a car horn only when there's an emergency are among the flyer's suggested ways to reduce noise.

Regardless of where the flyers are coming from, some Porter Square residents agree the area has become noisier over the years. "Beeping, banging, and clanging as dumpsters are being emptied," complained one resident.

And some local business owners who have sidewalk customers said they are very aware of all the noise emanating from the street. "The issue of noise has been the subject of legislation over the years," one owner said.
