Nahant Gets Anonymous Donation To Help Fund Land Fight Against Northeastern

NAHANT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The town of Nahant received an anonymous donation of $3 million to help fun their land fight against Northeastern University.

For decades, Northeastern University has owned about 15 acres of land in Nahant for their Marine Science Center.

Now, the university plans to expand and renovate their marine science facility.

A renovation and eminent domain information session was held on April 22, where the university explained its plan and timeline for the project.

Residents of Nahant stated that they believe this expansion will create too much traffic to the island and will look out of place.

The money donated will help pay for legal fees in the case goes to court.

The Annual Town Meeting will be help on May 15, where a vote will be made.
