NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Renovations at the Natick Center MBTA Commuter Rail Station are nearly done, and riders are already reaping the benefits.
A new high-level inbound platform opened July 21, and the new outbound platform opened Monday. Natick Center is in the top 25% of the MBTA’s busiest Commuter Rail stations, and it’s now fully accessible, according to the MBTA.
“Definitely, it’s made it significantly easier to just get between both stations,” said one rider.
Other improvements include new accessible ramps, elevators, added bicycle parking, more signage and a new intercom system.
“The audio’s a lot clearer, so that just makes everything easier,” said the rider.

The $40 million construction project started back in 2020, but was delayed for a number of reasons, including the pandemic and supply chain issues, according to the MBTA. The station also remained open to riders during renovations, which slowed progress a bit.
There’s also a new pedestrian bridge connecting each platform, which the MBTA is currently putting finishing touches on.
