NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Halloween decorations at Antonia and Paul Stockley's house in Natick are a real attention grabber.
Across the yard from a flying witch is a pole dancing skeleton with long pink and blue hair, other skeletons cheering it on with money in their hands. Would Paul call it a stripper?
"It’s a pole dancer with some fans offering money for said entertainment," he answered. "I wouldn’t call it a stripper because there’s no clothes to take off."
Whether it's the "acrobatic" pole dancer, or the 12-foot-tall Bob Ross skeleton with paint brush, palette, and easel, the Stockleys are using the attention to collect non-perishable food donations for the Natick Service Council.
"Just because we have so many people walking through," the couple said. "We just thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to help get people through the holidays."
Rachel Vingsness, Natick Service Council's Director of Programs and Operations, told WBZ NewsRadio that the need for food donations is on the rise lately.
"We had over 5,000 food pantry visits last year, and about a 30 percent increase," Vingsness said.
So far, Antonia and Paul have collected more than 70 pounds of food.
"We’re honored and just feel very grateful," said Vingsness. "It’s a little bit emotional, actually."
