NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — At a town meeting Wednesday night, Natick officials gave residents the opportunity to suggest ideas for “Project: Town Brand.”
During this four-month project, Natick hopes to establish a town brand with logos that represent all aspects of the town.
“There’s a lot going on in Natick. It’s a hot town right now, so it probably is good to brand it and communicate it better,” said Natick resident Rose ahead of Wednesday night’s meeting.
Officials explained the goals of the project and how to help residents can contribute to logo designs. They also introduced the town to the brand experts and designer Eve Lenson, all of whom will play a big role in the design process and ultimate decision.
In a presentation, they showed residents what a successful logo design can look like for different towns, cities and companies. The main criteria for judging logo designs are distinctiveness, memorability and timelessness.
Preliminary design concepts were released in a survey on Sept. 6, but multiple rounds of revisions will follow at the completion of the survey on Sept. 20.
WBZ’s Kim Tunnicliffe spoke to a number of town residents on Wednesday morning to see what they thought should be included in the logo design. Someone suggested incorporating Natick’s history, while another resident thinks the logo should focus on Natick’s most iconic landmarks.
“Anything from the skyline, the church on the corner, or the green in the gazebo,” said Native resident Chris. “I’m pretty Natick Center specific. I think that’s where the character is in the town.”
