NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Wednesday, just weeks before the Boston Marathon kicks off, the Town of Natick shared updates on its plan to install digital signs near the Natick Center on the North Main Street race route to help in wayfinding and navigation.

According to the town, the signs will be Soofa Smart Digital Displays, which are designed to share neighborhood news including transit traffic and delays, polls, and in the case of Marathon Monday, race information and directions.

A number of Commonwealth communities already have this technology in place, including Boston, Revere, and Brookline.

The Town of Natick said Department of Public Works crews are hard at work with the initial construction process, laying the foundation for the sign— with the project expected to wrap in time for the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17.

Town officials say the sign is completely funded through a state grant from the Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development.
