National Pet Day Gives Pet Owners Chance To Celebrate Their Furry Friends

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — You may not have known it, but today is National Pet Day.

WBZ's Matt Shearer talked to Debra Alton, the Adoption Center Manager at Pet World in Natick, who was less-than enthusiastic for National Pet Day.

"For me, every day is National Pet Day!" she said. Debra said she only owns one cat, but that's because her living space will only allow for one — she has owned up to eight at once, in the past.

At the dog park down the street, there were equally passionate pet owners. Jason from Framingham said he's allergic to dogs, but that doesn't stop him from being a dog lover. He goes as far as to get allergy shots to be able to hang out with dogs more often.

"I totally have terrible allergies, but love pets so much that I can't not be around them," he said.
