FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — While Boston sports fans have been understandably fixated on the playoff collapse of the Bruins, the playoff struggles of the Celtics, and the early-season mediocrity of the Red Sox, the New England Patriots have been a distant memory.
But an announcement yesterday by the National Football League has Patriots fans thinking again of the upcoming football season.
The Patriots will be playing a ‘home’ game overseas in Germany during the NFL’s Week 10 on November 12 at Frankfurt Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts.
The NFL announced back in January that the Patriots would be playing in Germany during the 2023 season but did not say who their opponent was, the venue, or the date of the game.
The NFL also announced at that time that the Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting a regular season game in Germany, while the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars will all play in London.
The Patriots have played in three international games, two in London and one in Mexico City, winning all three. This will be the first time they have ever played a game in Germany.
Last year, the Seattle Seahawks played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Munich, the NFL's first regular-season game in Germany.
