Nearly 12,000 Coronavirus Cases In Massachusetts

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Saturday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 1,334 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, and 24 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 since yesterday.

That brings the state's total number of coronavirus cases to 11,736, and the total number of deaths to 216.

Nearly 69,000 Massachusetts residents have now been tested for coronavirus.

The most cases are in Middlesex County, which has 2,468, followed by Suffolk County with 2,429 cases, Essex County with 1,400 cases, and Norfolk County with 1,199 cases.

More than two-thirds of the coronavirus cases in Massachusetts are people under the age of 60, whereas the vast majority of deaths in the state are in the senior population.
