Nearly 2,000 Moderna Vaccine Doses Spoiled At Jamaica Plain VA Hospital

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center is replacing nearly 2,000 doses of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine that were spoiled in a freezer mishap.

A spokesperson for the VA Boston Healthcare System said the 1,900 doses were compromised after a contract cleaner accidentally loosened the plug to the freezer that was storing them.

The incident is currently under investigation but it appears it is being treated as an accident.

The spoiled doses were discovered by VA Boston pharmacy staff.

The freezer was in a secure location and had an alarm system, but that alarm apparently did not work. The reason why is also under investigation.
