Nearly A Dozen Displaced In Massive Taunton Fire

TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Eleven people are displaced and several people were rescued after a major fire at a multi-family home in Taunton Tuesday night.

Flames broke out at the home on Harrison Street around 8:20 p.m.

Neighbors went door-to-door rescuing other neighbors. Tauton Fire says they rescued one man who leaped from a third-floor window down to a second floor balcony.

The fire spread quickly to the six apartments inside the building. The roof eventually collapsed.

One firefighter was treated on the scene for heat-related injuries.

Crews from Raynham, Dighton, Norton, and Rehoboth also helped fight the blaze.

Harrison and Winthrop Streets were closed, and authorities asked drivers to find alternate routes.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
