Nearly One-Third Of Massachusetts Voters Have Already Voted

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With more than a week left before Election Day, around one in three registered voters in Massachusetts have already cast their ballots.

According to Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin's office, since early voting began Saturday, more than 1.4 million votes have already been cast, which is equal to 30.8 percent of all registered voters in the state.

More than 965,000 ballots were returned by mail, and more than 472,000 votes were made in-person at one of the state's early voting locations or drop boxes.

Upwards of 2.1 million voters in the state have applied to Vote by Mail or vote early so far, which is more than 45 percent of registered voters in the Commonwealth.

Galvin's office said the number of ballots cast right now in Massachusetts is equal to 42.6 percent of all ballots cast in the state during the 2016 election.

Early voting in Massachusetts runs from Saturday October 17th through Friday October 30th, with most polling places open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Click here to find your local early voting location.
