BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A beloved New England candy made its way back to Boston on the day of another New England tradition: Patriots' Day.
Though the Boston Marathon isn't being run this year until October, representatives from Spangler Candy Company handed out Necco Chocolate Wafers at Mile 22 and the finish line of the Boston Marathon route, according to WBZ-TV.
Necco was a regional candy maker in operation since the early 1900's. The company had a plant in Revere, and was bought out by Ohio-based Spangler in 2018. The candies returned to production last year.
