BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Kids and parents got the chance to hear more about space and STEM from Suni Williams on Saturday at The Moonwalker Exhibit in Boston.

The immersive experience allowed attendees to learn more about NASA's past Apollo missions and the upcoming Artemis missions. Williams says she enjoys speaking with the next generation of future astronauts.

"I hope there's a lot of kids that will follow in my footsteps because you know, I got to retire one day," said Williams.

Williams is one of the most accomplished modern astronauts in history. With the fourth most logged hours of space walking time ever, she credits her upbringing for her success.

"I give a lot of credit to my parents for my brother, sister, and I when we were growing up. I never dreamed that I would be an astronaut, but I think that foundation of just, just go for it, was what led me there," Williams stated.

The Needham native spent nearly nine months in space after her eight-day mission didn't go as expected due to issues with her Boeing Starliner spacecraft. Williams says she misses what she considers her happy place.

"You know, it's a little vacation, it's a little break from the hustle and bustle of life here. And it also, where you are, is just incredible," Williams said. "And it gives you the perspective of a little bit more global perspective and about how humanity needs to work together. I don't think we get that on a daily basis, so I really miss being up there to have that perspective," said Williams.
