FOXBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Enhancements are coming to Gillette Stadium in 2023 and construction will begin on the improvements in early 2022.

According to the Patriot's website, construction will begin next year, and these will be "the most dramatic Gillette Stadium improvements since its opening in 2002." The project will begin in the north end of the stadium.

Once complete, it will include a completely reimagined plaza leading into the stadium along with a new and enhanced lighthouse. When fans walk into the stadium, they will see a new HD video board as well as new and improved concession locations and additional fan amenities.

This project, along with south end zone improvements last offseason, will total an additional $225 million invested into the stadium by the Kraft family.

Construction is scheduled for completion prior to the 2023 NFL season. The north end of Gillette will be defined by 75,000-square feet of glass-enclosed, which will serve as year-round hospitality and function spaces.

In addition, the new video board will be the largest outdoor stadium HD video board in the country, measuring 370' x 60'.

The fan entrance in the north end will also include relocating the entry gates to create a new fan-activation area. Officials say more details and images will be shared as plans are finalized in the coming months.
