New App Made By BPL Curator Lets You Stick Suez Canal Ship Anywhere

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — There's a new app for those who miss following the saga of the massive ship stuck in the Suez Canal.

The was created by Garrett Nelson. He is the Curator of Maps and Director of Geographic Scholarship at the Norman B. Leventhal Map & Education Center and the Boston Public Library.

The interactive website lets users virtually shove the Ever Given wherever they want.

Nelson said it lets users see how gigantic these ships are by using landmarks they understand.

“Because nothing sharpens the imagination like comparing it to something that you know well, whether it’s the Charles River or somewhere else," Nelson said. "Being able to drag it across the map and drop it on a place that you kind of know the scale of, it kind of drives home just how humongous this ship is.”
