NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Wednesday, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced that a man has been sentenced to serve up to 15 years in prison for carrying an illegal firearm into a local trampoline park, just one month after his arrest.
According to officials, Chantra Say pled guilty in Fall River Superior Court to charges of illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition, and large capacity feeding device. This comes after Say was arrested at Funz Trampoline Park, where officers received reports of a man with a gun wearing a grey hoodie and black ski mask on March 4.
When officers confronted Say, who fit the description, police say the defendant tried to get rid of the gun by handing it over to another man, then throwing it into a nearby garbage can. Once recovered, officials identified the gun as a Jimenez 9mm pistol loaded with 12 rounds. Upon his arrest, officers say the defendant game them a false name.

The expedited sentencing comes as Say was on probation at the time of the incident at the trampoline park for a prior armed assault with intent to murder conviction.
"Despite being on probation for a prior shooting, the defendant was walking around in a park for children with a loaded gun. He has a history of convictions for violent offenses and clearly continues to be a significant danger to the community. I’m pleased this case was resolved very quickly and that the defendant will be off the street for up to 15 years," Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said.
