NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A hair salon in New Bedford is giving some customers the silent treatment on purpose and by demand.

Salon LUIS! offered the "Silent Appointment," an option for customers who do not wish to have any small talk with stylists or staff during their appointment.

"Please don't hesitate to ask for a silent appointment if you're anxious, tired, mentally drained etc. and just want to avoid conversation and have some quiet time- there will be no judgment, there never is. Regardless of the reason, you are always welcome to utilize this option," a Facebook post from the salon read.

Salon LUIS! Owner Jessica Pacheco Couto said she got the idea for the offer from a friend who is doing the same thing and is receiving positive feedback on the idea.

"People are saying it's great to offer because sometimes you just don't want to talk, sometimes you want to just sit down and self-reflect, or not think about anything at all, or sometimes you just have too much on your plate," Pacheco Couto said.

WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe (@KimWBZ) tried the silent treatment at the salon.
