BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new device is helping those struggling with a phone addiction.
"I'm a culprit for sure," one local said.
A recent global study showed that 25% of humans admitted to having an addiction to their smart phone.
"Personally, I'm addicted to social media. I can't stay off my phone," another local said.
A prospective solution that has been gaining attention is called Brick. The NFC-enabled device and app are marketed as a tool to help users focus and live intentionally by creating a distraction free environment. Something that some Bay Staters say they could benefit from.

"I always look at my phone no matter what. It's got to be upwards of 10 times a day. I usually check it just for the time," one resident stated.
Testimonials across the internet are crediting the contraption for helping users win the war against social media and their phones in general. You stick the device to a surface in your home, it scans your phone, allowing you to disable certain apps you're using too much, but still lets you make phone calls or use other apps you deem necessary. The only way to enable the disabled apps once again is by scanning your phone to the Brick.
Some residents said they would consider using Brick in order to try to maintain a healthy digital lifestyle.
