CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Don't call it a comeback and don't call it a food court.
A new dining hall officially opened at the CambridgeSide shopping mall Friday after six months of construction.

"We’re calling it a global food and drink experience," Melissa LaVita, Regional Marketing Director at CambridgeSide, told WBZ NewsRadio.
CanalSide Food + Drink has 13 restaurants with a wide variety of food options, offering everything from Japanese ramen (Sapporo Ramen), bubble tea (Teazzi Tea Shop), and Eastern Mediterranean street food (Anoush'ella) to burgers (Nu Burger), pizza (Lala’s Neapolitan-ish Pizza), and cream puffs (Beard Papa's).
"Huge, huge, I mean we are just so jazzed to be part of this ecosystem," said August, who runs Far Out Ice Cream. "It seems like so many great tenants."
There is also a craft cocktails bar called C-Side.
The popularity of food halls may be breathing new life into the food court, as malls try to draw back hungry, in-person shoppers.
"I think sometimes people feel like, you know, people don’t want to shop in-store, but again, they’re here for the experience, and we’re really going through a transformation," LaVita said.
