BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's feeding time for Chacoda, a 27-year-old Atlantic harbor seal at the New England Aquarium in Boston.
"Give him some fish," aquarium senior trainer Sean Rothwell directed visitors Friday. "So this lets him know that you guys are just here to kind of give him something that he likes, and that’s of course that nice delicious fish."
Rothwell guides attendees on the exclusive meet and greet experience with Chacoda and the other four Atlantic harbor seals at the aquarium. The recently brought back program is offered daily and limited to a maximum of four guests per day.
According to Kristen McMahon-Van Oss, Director of Pinnipeds and Penguins, participants can "come out on deck and get up close and personal with a seal, and they actually get to touch them and get close to them and learn some of the signals that we use to communicate with them."
Guests can also ask the harbor seals for behaviors like waving, spinning, and dancing, and could even receive a kiss.
