BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Sipping cold craft beers at the seaside is the name of the game for the brand new Dockside Beer Garden on the wharf next door to the New England Aquarium.

It's not just brews either, the Memorial Day Weekend kickoff had plenty of burgers and ribs sizzling on the grill. WBZ's Suzanne Sausville went to check out on opening day and spoke to customers just thrilled to find relief from the blazing sun.

"The cups are stainless steel and it's perfect because it's hot as hell outside. The ocean is there, the sun is out, the tables are nice, they got cornhole boards, it's right in front of the aquarium— it's going to attract a lot of business," Kayla from upstate New York said.

The beer garden will open seven days a week starting on June 19 but don't expect fish to be on the menu.

"We're not cooking up whale or turtle soup, it's not happening. [We got] coleslaw, watermelon salad, grilled corn— we season it with a little butter," said NEAS Executive Chef Wallace Christopher.
