DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The New England Revolution took a break from the soccer field to volunteer at the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Dedham branch on Tuesday.
Revolution players Andrew Farrell, Will Sands, and Wyatt Omsberg spent time at the shelter taking care of the pigs, cats, and dogs while also building animal beds for them.
Many of the animals at the event were available for adoption, including an 80-pound Alaskan Malamute named Finney. He was one of the favorites of the day and finally found a home after months of being at the shelter.
“He’s a little bit of a smoocher,” one ARL representative said. “If you’re bending down to pet him, just keep your mouth closed.”

Farrell, a veteran defender for the Revolution, talked about how he has volunteered at the ARL in the past and that animals have been a major part of his life.
“Yeah, I had a dog, I had a Siberian husky when I grew up in South America, so I’ve always had animals in my life,” Farrell said.
Omsberg, a newer member of the Revs, spoke about how universal the love of animals are for so many people.
“Yeah, I think there’s something special about animals, everyone loves animals,” Omsberg said. “I grew up with pets, a lot of people grow up with pets.”
The team’s visit to ARL was a prelude to the start of the teams ‘Drive Series,’ which kicks off on Saturday. They’ll be collecting pet food and supplies in support of ARL’s Keep Pets F.E.D. (Full Every Day) food pantry.
