BRIGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mahoney’s Garden Center in Brighton has a new greenhouse that has been drawing some attention recently.

The greenhouse is part of the larger Mahoney’s Garden Center, and the addition had been planned for years before finally becoming a reality this spring.

The structure has many visually appealing elements on the inside, including many tropical plants and a prominent fountain.

The greenhouse used to be an Aston Martin dealership, and the process of ownership has been expanding steadily since Mahoney’s acquired the property.

“Our lawn and garden supply center were where the cars got painted, and our pottery room was where the cars got fixed up, oil changes and stuff,” Barrios also said.

Barrios tells WBZ NewsRadio that while the response from customers has been mostly positive, some believe that the project may be a little over the top.

“I had a customer come up to me and say: “What is this the Taj Mahal?”

The nursery will also serve as a refuge for all the plants that wouldn’t survive the New England climate once the temperature drops.
