Concord, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the trees have begun to change colors in northern New England, New Hampshire Fish and Game warned travelers of a potential large hazard on the roads.

New Hampshire Fish and Game issued their yearly warning of moose accidents ahead of foliage fanatics coming to see the beautiful trees.

Moose are big, slow and potentially deadly if they fall on top of cars. They tend to get spooked easily and can do some serious damage to themselves and vehicles.

Last year 58 moose were killed by vehicles in the state, down from 72 in 2021.

N.H. Fish and Game urged drivers to slow down and stay alert when driving around the Granite State. Even though there are ‘moose crossing’ signs across the state, drivers should be ready to react to moose anywhere.

Moose are most prevalent in northern New Hampshire.
