STOUGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Everyone's got a favorite pizza topping—whether it be the classic pepperoni or something more healthy like spinach— but a new popular pizza topping is dividing pizza lovers.

Turns out pickles, the classic sandwich condiment, are a new popular go-to pizza topping for many hungry customers. Town Spa Pizza in Stoughton is one of the many pizzerias across the country that offers these dill delights as a pizza topping, facility manager Matthew Phillips told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe pickles are quite the popular topping.

"We go through anywhere between four and six five-gallon buckets of pickle chips a week," Phillips said. "We sell anywhere from 200 to 400 of them a week."

Town Spa makes its pickle pizza just like any other pizza—it's just sauce and cheese with round pickle chips on top. It sounds simple, but adding pickles to pizza is quite a controversial topic amongst the hungry patrons at Town Spa. Katie said she was a fan.

"Honestly I love it, it's out of this world," she said. "I love pickles anyway so it's just everything for me."

Michelle, who is normally a fan of pickles, wasn't fully sold on the idea.

"I love pickles so I thought it would be great but it was gross," she said. "I didn't like it all it was just too much."
