BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New York man pleaded not guilty to charges for allegedly taking upskirt videos of several victims at a store on Newbury Street last year.
Damon Deteso was arraigned over Zoom Wednesday on 21 counts of secret sexual surveillance and 16 counts of attempting to commit a crime. He was released on personal recognizance on the condition he returns for his pretrial hearing. He was also ordered to stay out of Boston except for hearings or meetings with his lawyer.
Back in September 2021, Boston Police responded to a call from Anthropologie on Newbury street about a man sitting on the steps outside the store taking upskirt videos of customers without their knowledge. Deteso's cellphone was allegedly set up in his backpack next to him on the steps and positioned so people would step over the camera without them knowing.
Staff at Anthropologie had reported a similar incident and took a photo of the suspect. The photo from the previous incident matched a photo from that day and Boston Police were able to locate Deteso further down Newbury Street and detained him.

While in custody, detectives obtained a search warrant for Deteso's cell phone and found multiple upskirt videos, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.
Deteso is due back in court on May 25.
