NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Newburyport Municipal Docks has earned a top honor for the third year in a row.
Marinas.com has awarded the North Shore marina the Elite Fleet designation in its annual Boaters' Choice Awards. The award is based on user reviews submitted during the course of the year.
"Our numbers keep going up, up, and up as far as usage on the waterfront, so having these facilities and being recognized on a national stage is pretty great," Newburyport Mayor Sean Reardon told WBZ NewsRadio.
Reardon credits the popularity of the marina to the work of Harbormaster Paul Hogg and his helpful staff.
"It’s attracting people from all over year after year," Reardon said. "We’re a destination now and it’s a credit to Paul and his team."
"We take pride in customer service," Hogg said. "It’s getting the people to come here and getting them to come back and tell friends, and really take care of them when they come in here."
Fewer than 3% of marinas nationwide achieve Elite Fleet status. Other Massachusetts docks to receive the award include Ocean Alliance Docks in Gloucester, Falmouth Town Marina, Nantucket Moorings, and Safe Harbor Plymouth.
