SALEM, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man from Salem, New Hampshire has been arrested in connection to the events of January 6, 2021, when rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol building.
Richard Ackerman faces multiple felony charges including civil disorder, theft of government property, and assault on a law enforcement officer. According to the United States Attorney's Office, Ackerman was part of the mob that rushed into the Capitol, and swiped a U.S. Capitol police helmet as his "war trophy."
Prosecutors say Ackerman wore the helmet that day and threw a water bottle towards a line of officers blocking a tunnel entrance.

"In the 29 months since Jan. 6, 2021, more than 1,000 individuals have been arrested in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol, including nearly 350 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
With Ackerman's arrest, the FBI Boston says they have arrested 25 people in connection to the January 6 Capitol attacks.
