BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The noise that is coming from Readville’s two train yards has become so severe that residents have been kept awake by the noise for years and even exposed to health issues from living so close to the trains. WBZ NewsRadio spoke to Hyde Park representative Rob Consalvo, who represents the area.
“This is a burden to [residents] in the neighborhood, and this is disrupting their quality of life, for many people it has become a health issue [too],” Consalvo said.
The MBTA recently obtained the results of a study by the Authority Commission, that confirms the residents' complaints about the noise.
“The MBTA needs to hear us and understand that the noise that is coming from this 24-hour operation is too much,” Consalvo added.
The MBTA has plans to electrify the diesel trains now operating on the Fairmount Line linking Readville to South Station, however, the project is not expected to reach completion until 2027.
