FOXBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Normandy Farms Campground in Foxboro is getting ready for a busy Memorial Day weekend.
Opened in 1971, Normandy Farms is considered one of the best campgrounds in the United States and a prime destination for those who enjoy "glamping," a combination of "glamour" and "camping."
The 100-acre campground boasts 400 campsites and 17 rental units, which include pop-up trailers, yurts, cabins, and luxury safari tents with modern amenities. The list of activities is practically endless.
"Basketball, tennis, two playgrounds, volleyball, cornhole, bocce," listed Human Resources Director Marcia Galvin. "Pretty much every activity you can think of, we've got."
The campground also features a 20,000 square foot recreation lodge, arcade, heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, dog park, and a fishing pond.
"We stock it with 500 trout every April," said Galvin. "It's catch and release."
Galvin's family has owned the land at Normandy Farms for eight generations.
