North Andover Man Allegedly Crashes Truck Outside N.H. Police Department

PELHAM, N.H (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Pelham, New Hampshire said they arrested a North Andover man who crashed a truck outside of their headquarters early Monday morning and tried to flee the scene.

Police at the station reported hearing a loud crash coming from outside at about 1:45 AM on Monday.

Sergeant Adam Thistle went to investigate and found a Ford truck had skidded from the traffic circle on Marsh Road (Rt. 111A) at the Town Hall and Police Department entrance.

The vehicle hit a road sign, and finally struck a tree and rock across the Village Green.

The driver, Joseph Waelter of North Andover, was allegedly drunk at the scene.

Police said the man tried to flee in his truck as Sgt. Thistle came up to the car on foot. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Waelter had no injuries and was released on personal recognizance bail. He's scheduled to be arraigned at Salem District Court on October 13th.
