BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Northeastern University students have joined multiple other college campuses in the Boston area in protesting the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
On Thursday, over 100 students gathered on the Centennial Common on the Northeastern campus, chanting "Free Palestine!", clapping, and drumming on make-shift drums.
A few of the protesters also set up tents on the Common. Students held up signs reading "Free Gaza" as well as Palestinian flags.
At one point during the demonstration, students joined together in a large circle on the Common, with a few Northeastern University Police officers inside the circle.
Other students and bystanders were gathered nearby watching the protest.

Earlier on Thursday, over 100 Emerson College students were arrested by Boston Police after camping out in the Boylston Place Alley to protest the war in Gaza.

Groups of students at Harvard University, Tufts University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have all staged similar protests recently in the wake of the Columbia University student protests.

At Northeastern on Thursday afternoon, there was a small group of people holding an Israeli flag across from the large group of pro-Palestinian protesters.
Earlier that afternoon, a large police presence arrived on campus carrying zip-tie handcuffs, but after a few minutes, they appeared to back away from the student protesters to give them more space.
