PEABODY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Northshore Mall has a new exhibit dedicated to mental health awareness nestled amongst its stores and restaurants.
The new exhibit is called "I Am More" and it's meant to serve as both a gallery and a mental health resource center. It's the brainchild of Gloucester Photographer Amy Kerr and is rooted in her personal experience.
"[I think it's extremely important] to have free resources in the middle of the mall and to learn about all the resources here on the North Shore," she said. "These were things that I wasn't aware of when I was dealing with my own depression and I want people to know about it, get out there, and get help."
The exhibit includes a gallery of photos she took of people who have faced mental health challenges along with the stories of how they overcame them. Kerr said she hopes the exhibit can be a beacon for people looking to get help.
"It's full of free resources for people who have mental health challenges," she said. "There are support groups and hotlines for people to call."
