Norwell Stop & Shop Worker Positive For Coronavirus

NORWELL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An employee at a Norwell Stop & Shop has tested positive for COVID-19 according to the company.

The person worked at the 468 Washington Street store and will not be returning to work until health officials deem the person to no longer be contagious.

Stop & Shop spokesperson Maria Fruci says they have already conducted an extensive deep cleaning of the entire store in strict accordance with guidelines from federal and state public health officials.

"Out of an abundance of caution, any associates who had been in close contact with the affected associate have been asked to self-quarantine, and we are continuing to insist that any other associates who feel sick at any time stay home," said Fruci.

Stop & Shop insists the health of it's customers and employees is paramount.

"[W]e are continuing to implement extensive measures to help ensure all our stores and facilities are safe," Fruci said, "Grocery stores are seen as an essential service at this time, and our associates are on the front lines going above and beyond to serve our communities.
